The Brief

To provide a lighting design and control system that would bring a modern contempory kitchen to life.

The Solution

Colour changing LED lighting coupled with lighting control from Rako was the only logical choice. This would give flexibility and the wow factor to the client, yet with the minimal of disturbance during the installation process.

AVR provide the highest quality of LED solutions, with features such as:

Very good light output. AVR use a 1 watt LED cluster in conjunction with a clever lens system, this allows a LED fitting to produce the same light output as a 50 watt halogen!
Ultra energy efficient. Zero maintenance and long life make the AVR system faultless for many years, with a estimated life of 100,000 hours you need never change a light bulb again!
Low heat output. Due to a very efficient light source, little power is wasted on unwanted heat.
True white light output. AVR use a dedicated fourth white LED to produce a crisp white light.

We installed 12x Lu4 colour changing flush downlight fittings (polished chrome finish) within the ceiling void washing across worktops and down walls, 22x Lu1 'pin beam' white LED flush fittings above the island worktop, blue LED strip lighting above and below the wall cabinets and blue LED strip lighting along the floor plinths. The white worktops, walls and cabinets provided the ideal canvas to wash coloured light, changing the appearance and colour of the kitchen at the touch of a button.

The Rako lighting control system was the only choice for this project, due to the way the kitchen was already wired and the difficulty in installing new cabling. Rako uses a very reliable wireless system to transmit information from the keypads to the light fittings, from one of the 7 button keypads or a handheld remote control we can dim and control the colour of the kitchen easily. With the press of a button the lighting can colour scroll, seamlessly changing the appearance and mood to the room every hour.
