The Brief

The clients had owned and lived in this property for some time and required a space that would be used on a daily basis and incorporate both a kitchen and living area. Our brief was to come up with a solution for a surround sound cinema system, with then additional audio for entertaining.

The Solution

Our solution was to install a Pioneer LX-5090 Plasma screen at the far end of the room. This was built witin a studwork wall so as to appear flushed in. Bowers & Wilkins in-ceiling speakers along with a B&W PV1 subwoofer were installed to form a 5.1 audio system.

At the kitchen end of the room an additional pair of speakers were installed to provide an additional audio only zone for when the TV is not required, this is controlled via a simple in-wall keypad.

The Garden is fitted with a pair of Bose environmental speakers ready for the long summer evenings, again along with a simple in-wall keypad.

Amplification was provided Rotel. A 1058 receiver was installed along with additional power amps to drive the extra two zones. A Sony Blu-Ray player was also installed along with an Escient hard drive music server. All source equipment was housed within a bespoke cabinet in the adjoining playroom.

The client had already specified several circuits of light so we installed a Lutron Grafik eye lighting controller to provide a suitable level of control, alllowing the moood of the room to be changed from a single press of a button.

To ensure that the system was simple to use a Phillips TSU9600 remote control was installed providing a simple user interface that the entire family can use.
