The Study Floor Lift

The Brief
This simple brief was to result in a more complicated solution. Our client had a large CRT television placed infront of a large sash window that was obscuring the view into the grounds.
Therefore all we had to do was to change the TV to one that could disappear when not required. Simple, except we couldn't change the decor, or furniture or pictures.
The Solutions
The solution was to install a lift mechanism so that the Plasma TV could be raised from the floor. A bespoke mechanism was commisioned for the project, this needed to be able to move a section of the floor and then raise the plasma TV to a suitable viewing height.
While the lift was constructed the wooden floor was lifted. The ground below was then excavated to allow the installation of a steel housing that would provide the space for the lift to be fitted. This steel box was tanked externally to prevent the ingress of water, while internally it was lined with a foil backed insulation to prevent the build up of condensation.
Cabling was installed to the rear of the room, where the Sky Hd box and DVD player were to be installed and then the lift mechanism fitted. Once tested the wooden floor was relaid and carpets re-fitted.
Control is via a Philips TSU9600 remote control, allowing a one press to watch system that raises the lift and powers the TV on.
